I worked as the Programme Test Manager for the Student System Programme (SSP), within the IT Division of the University of Oxford. The Student Systems Programme was responsible for delivering the development of Oxford’s IT-based systems used by academic and administrative staff, applicants and students in support of many aspects of teaching and learning. The systems are primarily developed on Tribal SITS:Vision, e:Vision and Microsoft Dynamics platforms with interfaces handled by Biztalk.

As the Programme Test Manager I was responsible for the overarching test strategy, test planning and management across all projects within the programme. I successfully recruited and managed a team of 14 permanent and contract resources as well as managing 3 separate 3rd party suppliers in order to complete over 11,000 formal test scripts managed in HP ALM Quality Centre.

I oversaw the programme through all of the following test phases:

  • Integration Testing
  • System Testing
  • Link and Interface Testing
  • Systems Integration Test (SIT)
  • User Acceptance Testing (UAT)
  • Operational Acceptance Testing (OAT)
  • Load & Performance (L&P)
  • Data Migration Testing
  • Security and Penetration (S&P)

In addition to managing the testing through each test phase my role also included the management of all defects raised across the programme and the allocation and priority of those defects via daily defect triage meetings.
